Had a great time learning to rig up 3d models in detail. Blender is a fickle beast but I think I learned how to understand it a bit better!

Only taken one intro class here but it seems like a great space for learning computer-based design and animation skills in a welcoming, friendly environment. The entire concept is outstanding asset to the Portland area. Daniel was a great teacher and very patient!

I came across Digital Dabblers while looking for a creative social group after moving here, and it has proven to be an awesome resource for both improving my skills and connecting with like-minded creatives! They host both casual meetups—great for networking while working on your own projects—and more structured, workshop-style events. Whether it’s practicing life drawing with live models or diving into 3D art techniques in Blender, every session feels welcoming and well-organized. They also put together social outings, like this summer’s picnic on the Sandy River, or the upcoming holiday art exchange. If you’re looking for a creative community to learn and grow with, Digital Dabblers is the right place to be! I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the regulars, and can’t help but walk away feeling motivated and creatively energized. This is such an awesome group for artists of all skill levels, and I’m grateful I found it when I did!

Attended a Blender intro class and it was really fun. The instructors were knowledgeable and encouraged questions. A delicious homegrown pumpkin was raffled off at the end. What more could you ask for?

Digital Dabblers is a group that I found on "MeetUp" app about two years ago and I'm very glad that I did. I found a group of likeminded artists of a broad range of talents who have been a lot of fun to meet with. Daniel as an organizer has done so much to build up the group from meeting in local coffee shops to having its own space along Grand avenue, presentations at the Wacom Experience, regular workshops to introduce people to new programs and techniques, and even a table at the Rose City Comic Con! He and his assistants have done so much to build up the group and earn more recognition, he deserves a lot of credit. He also deserves a great deal of credit for the people-management aspect of things, since artists are a notoriously fickle and mercurial crowd, and some clashes of egos are inevitable. He's always come across as level-headed and fair, and brings copious experience from other work that he has done. I highly encourage people to come check them out. Even if you have no digital tools, bring some paper and pens or pencils and spend some time with a very positive crowd.

Freelance illustration can be a lonely path. Digital Dabblers help with that. Daniel and the other Dabblers work tirelessly to make this a welcoming, inclusive group to be a part of. They offer education, mentorship, and encouragement. I am so grateful they exist. Please pay them a visit when you can. You won't regret it!

   About Our Services

Career Coaching, Mentorship & Tutoring

Vocational Rehabilitation

Did you know our organization is an approved training vendor with Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation? (part of the Department of Human Services). For adults with a documented disability, we provide career coaching, mentorship, and digital literacy training during normal business hours (Monday-Friday). Our volunteers are trained and have experience working with adults with Autism, ADD/ADHD, and other intellectual disabilities (and many have disabilities themselves).

  • Clients through Vocational Rehabilitation receive direct 1-on-1 tutoring, career coaching, tech assistance, and mentorship.
  • Sessions are tailored to the clients accessibility needs.
  • We are also a pet friendly office (therapy animals are encouraged to attend along with any human companions).
  • We provide thorough and detailed case notes to help clients stay on track and document any accomodation requests that may require coordination with an approved DSP (Direct Support Professional).
  • (Pictured Right), a client attended workshops covering Blender 3d sculpting, 3d modeling, and content creation. They were able to produce a full human sculpted head from memory during a tutoring session at our classroom space!

What is “Project Belonging”?

Did you know our organization hosts on-going group projects in animation production, and content creation? “Project Belonging,” is the codename for an animated short about our mascot Dabbs the Duck, and their adventures finding belonging in their local art community. See a sneak preview of our animatic and storyboards on our Instagram soon!

  • How do I get involved?
    • Attend one of our upcoming community socials and talk to an organizer.
    • Join our Discord server and chat with one of our server admins about ways to get involved (or DM Daniel).
    • Attend a workshop at our private space and chat with one of our instructors.
  • Members and clients are invited to apply to join one of our ongoing group projects.
  • Project meetings happen every first Monday of the month via a private Discord chat.
  • Members have the opportunity to serve in a leadership role and also help coordinate “mini teams,” within a project.
  • Links to student work and group project content will be available here in the next few months 🙂
