Intro to Gesture & Figure Drawing!

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Welcome to our gesture drawing workshop for animators and illustrators (in-person). For animators having a live model demonstrate movement, timing, and actions is essential for capturing the intricacies of the human walk, gait, timing, etc. With shorter sequences of poses/actions you can now demonstrate drawing walk cycles, movements, and more. “Classical” figure drawing classes only teach long static poses, and focus more on fine-art rather than digital practices. But now you can understand how to draw clothing while drawing our models in costume! Prefer to work off of an iPad or other digital device? Well that’s why we created this workshop, to address the needs of comic artists, animators, and digital creatives that are seeking a relaxed environment with minimal instruction and no “fine arts” focus.

Chairs will be set up classroom style surrounding a live model with two cameras positioned above and to the side of the model and projected onto the far wall. This way you get 3 total live views (natural, side, above). In addition, props, LED lights, and other objects will be incorporated into the lesson.

In the first 10 minutes we will set boundaries and do some introductions to help the model/artists feel comfortable. No touching the model, no speaking while model is on pose.
