Early riser or wanting to be? Love premium coffee and engaging conversation? Then please join us for a weekly re-occurring coffee and conversation starting at the Aspen Trail!
HIKE DESCRIPTION:
We all meet at the Aspen Trail, I share coffee, and we hangout for the first 15 minutes, then depart promptly at 7:15.
- Head West on Aspen Trail toward Wildwood Trail
- Continue right onto Wildwood Trail
- Turn left onto the Birch Trail
- Arrive at location: Birch Trail parking lot!
- Turn around and moonwalk in reverse arriving back at the Aspen entrance at ~8:25.
WHAT TO BRING:
- A thermos or cup for coffee
- Water bottle
- Appropriate clothing based on weather
- A thirst for premium coffee and good conversation
- No dogs allowed at this time
- Hiking poles are optional but not a bad idea to save your joints on the trek down the hill.
BREW PROCESS:
I use a Chemex with about (~80g) of coffee per batch with a medium/fine grind, I heat natural spring water (PH ~7.5) using my Zojirushi water boiler to ~208degF, pre-wet the filter, fill up the top of the Chemex with water and stir the grounds into a frothy brew. Pouring about 2 batches into the insulated carafes to share! Chemex is a pour-over method which is great for larger groups and offers the right flavor profile!
ABOUT YOUR HOST:
Daniel: Hi! I’m 30, born and raised in Oregon, and I’m a blossoming digital artist, hiker, trail runner, social entrepreneur, former engineer, former social worker, and current IT professional at an Oregon non-profit. I’ve lead/attended 100’s of Meetup events (since July 2021) and plan to continue well into the future!
I also have my own Meetup group called the Portland Digital Dabblers for anyone who is interested in digital art and meeting for coffee on Saturday’s 🤓☕🎨
COVID-19 Guidelines: Please don’t come if you or anyone you were in contact with or had COVID-19 symptoms in last 14 days.
NOTE: If you are in the going list, and decide you are not going to attend, please update your RSVP to “Not going”. That said, this hike has a longer introductions period to make it easier for people who might be running 5 or 10 mins late but we will always leave promptly at 7:15. Being an out-and-back also gives folks the option to turn around if you need to depart early for any reason. I also reserve the right to turn anyone away for poor behavior, so please be nice :).
