For animators having a live model demonstrate movement\, timing\, and actions is essential for capturing the intricacies of the human walk\, gait\, timing\, etc. With shorter sequences of poses/actions you can now demonstrate drawing walk cycles\, movements\, and more. “Classical” figure drawing classes only teach long static poses\, and focus more on fine-art rather than digital practices. But now you can understand how to draw clothing while drawing our models in costume! Prefer to work off of an iPad or other digital device? Well that’s why we created this workshop\, to address the needs of comic artists\, animators\, and digital creatives that are seeking a relaxed environment with minimal instruction and no “fine arts” focus. \nChairs will be set up classroom style surrounding a live model with two cameras positioned above and to the side of the model and projected onto the far wall. This way you get 3 total live views (natural\, side\, above). In addition\, props\, LED lights\, and other objects will be incorporated into the lesson. In the first 10 minutes we will set boundaries and do some introductions to help the model/artists feel comfortable. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE: Please make sure to RSVP in-advance and tip the model (this is required). \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Table of Contents\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n FirstHeading\n	Attending Watercolor Social - 10-15-26About Your Host:CODE OF CONDUCT (Please read before RSVP)FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Where: 529 SE Grand Ave.\, Suite 300A\nWhen: Sunday Oct 4th\, 10:30am-12pm\nCourse Files: Past photos/video available to members on our courses page.\nMODEL FEE REQUIRED: Tip the model via Cash\, Venmo\, etc. on-site!\n \n Guild Membership $29.99/mo.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGENDA\n \n10 – 10:15 – Intro and ground rules Explain gestures and timer.\n10:20 – 10:30 – 30 second gestures\, then 1 minute gestures\n10:30 – 11 – 3\, 3 minute poses. 4\, 5 minute poses.\n11 – 11:20 – Two long poses. 10 minutes per pose. Well then\, you are qualified to attend most of our events! Intermediate workshops will be noted in the title. If you are feeling like you need additional help with any of the concepts please let the host or TA know and we would be happy to schedule 1-on-1 time. \nQ: How do I access the training?A: Most workshops will be located at our headquarter office. Make your way to the entrance (in-between My Fathers Place and Slow Bar) and search for DIGITAL DABBLE on the door buzzer. We will be upstairs (follow the sign) PLEASE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE IF YOU NEED TO USE THE ELEVATOR. For partnership events please make sure to check the address listed on the event! \nQ: Why doesn't the password work for downloadable course files?A: Most workshops will have downloadable files/instructions but these are password protected and made available on the day of the event. This gives the host time to make any adjustments to the files before the workshop begins. Most workshop content is eventually made available as a free online course! \nQ: A lot of workshops mention Blender. So what is Blender?A: Blender is the free and open source 3D and 2d creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling\, rigging\, animation\, simulation\, rendering\, compositing and motion tracking\, even video editing and game creation. In addition\, Blender has a powerful vector based 2d animation feature called Grease Pencil. Blender is licensed as GNU GPL\, owned by its contributors. For that reason Blender is Free and Open Source software\, forever. \nQ: Is there parking and is it free?A: There should be street parking around the training center and it is FREE on the weekend. If you take public transit there are options that should get you very close. \nQ: What happens if I show-up late?A: For events at Digital Dabblers\, HQ we have a 15 minute buffer built-in to accommodate late arrivals. Shhh\, just don't tell anyone! 🙂 If you are more than 15 minutes past the starting time of this event the doors will be locked. This is to respect the time of your classmates and the instructor. For partner events at other spaces it is best to arrive as close to the start time as possible. \nQ: Does the software cost money? A: Always check the event page to confirm. If we're teaching using Blender it is free to download and use forever! Just make sure to have it installed on your laptop/device before arriving. For other workshops like Procreate or Procreate Dreams\, Aseprite\, etc.\, the price of the software and links to download will be listed in the description. \nQ: Do you provide computers/equipmentA: There are currently 7 lab computers and 2 tablets available on a first-come first-serve basis. \nQ: What do I need?A: Please plan to bring your own laptop with the latest version of the software installed (unless you plan to use a lab computer). If you need a laptop we will have a few lab computers available but these are first come first serve. She has designed and taught courses at the University of Michigan and Duke University\, where she completed her PhD in 2020. You can learn more about her teaching and work as a UX researcher at katyagorecki.com and see her art at katyagorecki.gesso.work \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n CODE OF CONDUCT (Please read before RSVP)\n \nExpectations for Classroom Participation: It is expected that participants will maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to learn\, be challenged\, and communicate their needs to the host(s). It is OK to leave class for small breaks but we cannot hold-up the class for a student who is absent for more than 5-10 mins. at a time.\nSupport Your Peers: At Digital Dabblers events it is impossible to offer a "one-size-fits-all\," experience (but we do our best!). Some folks may join with more experience than others. If you are familiar with a topic\, and notice a fellow classmate struggling\, offer to help! If you are struggling with any of the material please speak up and let a host or classmate know. Because we cater to beginners and intermediate artists\, it is essential that be build a supportive environment for folks at all levels to succeed.\nPersistent Negativity: When students are persistently negative this drags the mood and experience down for all attendees. As an organization and organizers we are not perfect! And many things are outside our control (parking can fill-up on weekends\, students join with a wide skill range\, and some may present cognitive and physical disabilities). We are receptive to all feedback\, and offer accommodations to the best of our ability\, but are a very small organization with no full-time paid staff and rely 100% on volunteers to carry out our services. While we are proud to say we have the help of industry professionals\, and offer in-depth instruction\, we charge $30/mo. and attendees should not expect this is a University or Accredited institution with a vast array of resources charging $1000+ for their classes.\nExpectations for Arriving On-time: If an event is not listed as "drop-in\," it is expected that participants not arrive more than 15-20 minutes late to an event. In some cases we may not be able to permit entry past this point.\nAlways RSVP before attending an event: Please RSVP before every Digital Dabblers. Individuals who do not RSVP on the website and agree to our code-of-conduct will not be permitted to attend.\nPlease check website regularly: If an event is cancelled\, or our schedule changes\, we do our best to inform students via email. Please check the website before attending any events to ensure they are still happening (if an organizer gets sick for example a last minute cancellation can occur).\nRespect for all attendees: Treat everyone with dignity and respect\, regardless of background\, experience\, or perspective.\nRespect for the host(s): Please treat the host and the space with respect at all times.\nInclusive language: Avoid using offensive or discriminatory language.\nAppropriate sharing: Share information and experiences in a respectful and mindful manner. It's important for folks to provide consent to hear/partake in certain discussions.\nHealth and well-being: While open communication is encouraged\, excessive discussion of personal health issues may not be appropriate for a social setting.\nMental Health: Digital Dabblers is not a mental health facility. Individuals who express thoughts of suicide or are perceived to be in-crisis will be referred to the appropriate services for their needs. In some cases individuals may be removed from our services if their behavior poses a risk to the organization or to their peers.\nNo hate speech or discrimination: Any form of hate speech\, discrimination\, or harassment will not be tolerated.\nAvoid political discussions: To maintain a positive and inclusive environment\, please refrain from discussing political topics.\nPolicy for Removal: Digital Dabblers bylaws permit the President or any officer/director to remove an individual from services at their discretion.\nAbility to Appeal a Removal:  Digital Dabblers bylaws permit an individual to appeal their removal from the community to the board of directors within 30 days of being notified. Past this point\, individuals may re-join after 1 year and by vote from the board of directors.\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS\n Q: Are Your Workshops Open to Beginners?A: Can you draw a stick figure? Make sure to arrive early if you need a device 🙂 \n\n \n \n \n \n \n CODE OF CONDUCT (Please read before RSVP)\n \nExpectations for Classroom Participation: It is expected that participants will maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to learn\, be challenged\, and communicate their needs to the host(s). Avoid oversharing personal details or sensitive information. Please be mindful of specific topics of NSFW art when discussing with everyone in earshot. Past this point\, individuals may re-join after 1 year and by vote from the board of directors.\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n About your Host!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Geordie Humphrey (he/him)\n Nomad Sculpt Host & Digital Fabricator \n Geordie is a volunteer event organizer with us and helps lead the Wednesday "Draw Dabbs Doing" art challenge at Wonderwood Springs in St. Johns. DON’T share this with anyone.\nNext\, return to the thread and see what your secret santa put down for their preferences on art\nYou have a max work time of ~8hrs to complete a piece before the start of the event on December 21st\, 2024.\n\nNOTE\, if your art is purely digital please drop your piece in the chat and tag the person you got with @personyougot. You can make whatever you want (but try to make something that your secret Santa asked for).\nWhat happens if I don’t complete my piece in-time? Please let the person know and offer a sincere apology. Life happens.\nWhat happens if my secret Santa did not complete a piece for me? Please be understanding of other people’s circumstances and try not to take it personally.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n CODE OF CONDUCT (Please read before RSVP)\n \nExpectations for Classroom Participation: It is expected that participants will maintain a positive attitude and a willingness to learn\, be challenged\, and communicate their needs to the host(s). Avoid oversharing personal details or sensitive information. Please be mindful of specific topics of NSFW art when discussing with everyone in earshot. Past this point\, individuals may re-join after 1 year and by vote from the board of directors.
